Stylized massing model with three removable panels.

At 1:500 scale this cityscape model was only 80cm long x 55cm wide but, as you can see from the photos, at this small scale we can show a wide context area and a clearly understandable level of detail. The model shows the proposed new buildings with a much higher level of detail, including indicative balconies, to clearly distinguish them from the much more simplified surrounding context buildings. The new development comprised three separate sites which were all made as removable panels to allow easier updating as the scheme progressed through the planning process.

Incorporating digital screens to show scrolling adverts.

Outdoor media specialists Bauer asked us to produce these models of two of their latest bus shelter designs but threw in the added complication of wanting the advertising screens to show actual adverts in the same way as the real shelters do. To achieve this we built in digital screens that could be powered and fed data from controls within the model base structures. We even made the screens removable so that they could be easily changed if the screens failed at some point in the future. At 1:8 scale both models were approx. 600m long x 350mm high.

Second sales model this year for this repeat customer.

We produced our first sales model for this client back in 2016 and they were so pleased with how helpful it was as a sales tool they’ve come back to us for further models every year since. This is the second model we’ve produced this year for this client and hopefully we’ll squeeze another one before the end of the year.

Simplified model to help plan an art exhibition.

A London based artist asked us to produce this simplified model of two gallery rooms to help her plan an upcoming exhibition. With an overall width of 900mm, we designed it in 3 sections that could be fitted together in compact cardboard box and shipped overnight to her London address. You can see the three separate sections in the photo above. The model was made from 3mm white acrylic but she asked us to paint two of the walls dark blue which was part of the exhibition design. When the artist received the model she sent a message to say “It’s perfect and exactly what I was after.”

Life-size mock-ups for products showroom.

The client for this project sent us two images from their website showing their groundworks products as “vertically exploded” graphics and asked if we could reproduce the images as three dimensional models. We said yes straightaway and came up with the solution of using four clear acrylic rods to support the separated layers. When we delivered the finished models the client’s response was: “ I just wanted to say that the models look fantastic - we were both on site yesterday when they arrived and were blown away. I can't wait for more of the business to see them”.
