Two industrial models shipped to Munich.

We recently completed these two models of different types of transformer sites for use at a trade event in Munich. At 1:100 scale we had to simplify some of the smaller detailed elements but it was important that all of the main components were made to a fully recognisable level. Apart from producing the models we also provided custom-built flight cases and arranged shipping via airfreight to get the models to Munich in plenty of time for the show.

Industrial Model of Scrubbing Column – Scale 1:25

This is a model of an industrial component for the LNG gas processing industry. It’s actually called a “Scrubbing Column” and the real thing is over 25 metres tall and 3 metres wide at the base. At this scale (1:25) it’s about a metre tall. When the client commissioned the model we came up with the idea of putting it on a circular turntable base so that the model could be rotated to be viewed from all sides. We also gave it a tubular Perspex cover to tie in with the turntable and to reflect the cylindrical proportions of the model.

Concept model shipped to Saudi for competition bid

This white styled concept model incorporates clear Perspex blocks to represent the proposed buildings for a major development in Saudi Arabia. The client RTKL, an international firm of architects, needed a company who could complete the model in just two weeks, despite the fact that for the first week they were still finalizing the scheme. We were happy to take the project on, working flexibly with the client as they evolved their design. The model then had to shipped to Saudi to form the focal point of their presentation for this international competition.

Our Latest Projects | Modelmakers | Illuminated Apartments Model – 1:150 scale

Detailed sales model for North London residential development

Sometimes a project turns out to be much trickier than expected and this was definitely the case with this illuminated sales model for a North London residential development. Not only was it on a complex sloping site with lots of surrounding context buildings, it also had heavily articulated elevations composed of many different materials including a very specific range of metallic finishes. The client was very concerned that these finishes should be accurately represented and we spent a lot of time working with the architects creating sample swatches to make sure the colours on the model were as authentic as possible. The requirement for general illumination added further technical complexity to the project but in the end it all came together as planned and the client was delighted with the finished result. In fact we had an email from him with the following comments "We have just been to the agents office to see the model for the first time. It’s fantastic! Thank you so much for all your hard work on this project. I’m sure it will help enormously to sell the units off plan...".
