Vets Practice - 1:25 Scale

For this project the client, a chain of vets, wanted a portable model that showed the typical internal layout of one of their newly built practices. We suggested this 1:25 scale stylized model because it offered plenty of recognizable internal detail but was easily transportable at only 800mm long. Rather than have a removable roof, we made the roof panels out of clear acrylic to allow easy viewing of the internal detail (this also keeps the dust out). Whilst it is predominantly a white stylized model, we added highlights of realistic colour to add extra visual interest.

White Massing Model – Scale 1:50

1:50 is an unusually large scale for a massing model, but it was necessary for this project because the client needed the model to give clear views into a cramped internal courtyard. He also needed to be able to reach in to remove some of the components to allow views into the internal stair arrangement. The purpose of the model was to illustrate how a proposed new glazed entrance and bridge link worked with the existing levels and elevations of the courtyard.

White Styled School – Scale 1:200

A good example of a detailed white styled model, showing how informative this stylized architectural look can be. It’s a particularly useful approach when a model needs to be produced before final decisions have been made on colours and finishes of external materials.

Winchester Cathedral – Scale 1:200

This stylized part-model of Winchester Cathedral was used to evaluate various proposals for new facilities on this sensitive historic site. The proposed new structures were made as removable blocks so that the location and massing of each option could be assessed in relation to the main building.

White Styled School – Scale 1:500

A white stylized model of a proposed school with accurate land forming to show how the sports pitches and buildings are accommodated on this sloping site. Whilst the general look is stylized, the buildings are made to fairly detailed level.
